Reflective Narrative: SPAN 301 Spanish Composition & Oral Practice, SPAN 301S Service Learning
Through the SPAN 301 course, I was able to fulfill the requirements for MLO 1 while practice my Spanish skills through writing, reading, comprehension, and speaking. By taking this course I was able to test my Spanish skills in every possible way in and out of class. In this course, I do think I am able to interpret and communicate efficiently in Spanish, however I do wish I do continue to improve my presentation skills and be more secure when I present in front of a class. Sometimes it was a bit difficult to make my own opinions on a text after reading it, or I would simply forget certain words when I tried to explain something. By reading more and more in Spanish I kept practicing my Spanish skills, however I'm still working on my presentation skills cause I know it will take some time and practice to get better. Below I will include a power point of a presentation that really interest me since it is a very controversial issue that is currently affecting the earth. Another course that fulfills the requirements is the service learning course 301S, where the main priority is to complete service hours, but we also focus on reading texts related to the Chicanx community. We practice our interpretation skills, speaking skills, and writing skills by different activities such as discussions in class, written assignments, and final presentations. Also, every week we have to complete our journals in regards to the service hours we were completing and the type of work we accomplished at the location of our service. At the end of the semester we practice or speaking skills when we had to complete a presentation to describe our experience of completing our service learning hours.
