Course Description: Continues to build proficiency as defined by the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines. Content-based instruction develops communicative language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through readings and discussions of authentic Hispanic cultural and literary texts. For students with two or more years of Spanish or an intermediate level of Spanish language proficiency.
Course Narrative: Through this course we were able to put are speaking, reading and writing skills to the test. All the assignments helped me get out of my comfort zone and write different types of essays in Spanish. The discussions in class helped us improve our Spanish speaking skills while also learning to argue and debate on certain controversial topics. All the activities in and out of class helped us think critically and form a constructive answer either by speaking or writing. Most of the readings assigned during and out of class delivered very strong and deep messages, which had different meanings. The presentations helped us improve the way we present on a chosen topic while speaking in Spanish. This course fulfills the requirements of MLO 2 Linguistics, within this course we completed presentations and writings assignments on the topic of our choice in order to practice our writing and speaking skills in Spanish. The discussions and readings in class also helped us improved our vocabulary, both in speaking and writing. Overall, this class focuses developing different ways to teach students to improve their language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
