Course Description: This course introduces the principles of literary analysis, based on reading and discussion of Hispanic literary texts. Includes fiction, drama, essay, and poetry from Spain and Spanish America. Taught in Spanish.
Course Narrative: In this course, we spend all the time reading and analyzing short stories and poems from different literary movements. Through the reading we were able to identify different topics that sparked interesting discussions inside and outside of class. The writing assignments were part of the analysis of the readings, it helped us expand our ideas and knowledge based on the different readings. Through the reading we were able to learn more about the authors' lives and also about the historic context of each readings, to understand the message of the stories or poems a little better. One of our major assignments was a presentation that focused on a particular literary movement and we had the opportunity to learn more about the ideas that were popular in those literary movements and the most notable authors who stood out based on their literary works. This course fulfills the requirements of MLO 3 Literary and Cultural Knowledge, where we focus on learning the variety of ideas, beliefs, attitudes and philosophies based on the literary texts assign during class. We had the opportunity to learn about the different literary movements and their ideas by reading short stories, poems, narratives, or plays.
